As more and more people decide to follow their entrepreneurial dreams, they find that they no longer have access to traditional forms of insurance offered through their employers. However, there are many companies that will offer dental insurance for self employed individuals. Something to keep in mind is the difference between dental insurance for self employed business owners as opposed to dental discount plans.
Both insurance and discount plans will charge a monthly premium. While a discount plan will charge lower monthly fees and allow you to save considerable costs for office visits, you will likely pay less for dental visits and services if you have insurance. However, most dental insurance plans are unlikely to cover any dental conditions you have before starting the plan, such as cavities or teeth that need to be pulled.
